Our take
Hotel Keihan Kyoto Ekiminami is a no-nonsense, comfortable base near Kyoto Station with Wi-Fi, a restaurant, a bar and a guest laundry. It is set up well for families, and the 8.8 score from 1,138 reviews reflects consistent quality. I would book it for a week of sightseeing and train trips where practicality matters; it lists no pool or spa, so travellers who want those facilities should look at the larger hotels above the station.
- Take advantage of the guest laundry, especially if you're on a longer trip through Japan.
- Use the hotel's restaurant and bar for easy dining after a busy day of exploring Kyoto.
