KAVERI PALACE
A small Deoghar hotel rated 9 by 18 guests, a palace in name only
About this hotel
A room seven minutes on foot from Shiv Ganga is one of the simplest ways into the old Deoghar quarter, and for pilgrims whose entire trip is the walk to the Jyotirlinga before dawn, that distance is the main calculation. The listing carries nothing else: no restaurant, no parking, no breakfast and no Wi-Fi entry, so the room is the whole offer. Deoghar Airport sits seventeen minutes out by taxi and Nirvana The Rooftop Cafe nine, so anything beyond the temple lanes will involve a shared auto. A 9 rating across 18 reviews is a small sample but a consistent one. The palace name follows a common local naming habit and does not point to any heritage listing.
- Rated 9 from 18 guest reviews
- Small hotel; the word palace is only its name
- Town served by Deoghar Junction, Jasidih Junction and Baidyanathdham stations
- Temple shuttle trains run from Jasidih to Baidyanathdham
Our take
Kaveri Palace has 18 reviews averaging 9, and the word palace is its name, not its building: I could not locate any record of a historic house or of grand-hotel service here, so do not book it expecting one. No public source gives its street either, which is a real gap in a town with three railway stations. Deoghar Junction is on the Dumka line, premium Howrah–Delhi expresses stop at Jasidih Junction, and the shuttle from Jasidih ends at Baidyanathdham, the station pilgrims use for the Baidyanath temple. I would book it only after placing it on a map against the station printed on my ticket.
- Look at the station code on your ticket before choosing this room: DGHR, JSME and BDME are three different places, and the transfer between them is by road.
- For the Baidyanath temple, the local trains from Jasidih Junction run to Baidyanathdham, the branch terminus; Deoghar Junction is on a separate line.
- Around Shravani Mela, in July and August, the railways run special trains and pilgrims arrive on foot from Sultanganj, so a small hotel like this one fills early in the season.
Why we love it
- A room inside the old quarter
- A seven minute walk to Shiv Ganga
- A steady 9 rating from its guests
- A simple base for a dawn darshan
Why guests love itKaveri Palace suits families only if its location fits the train you are taking, and that is the one thing I cannot confirm: no public listing states its address. I also found no confirmed restaurant, parking, lift or family room, so I would not choose it for small children without asking those questions first. The 9 out of 10 from 18 guests is a good signal on cleanliness and welcome, but on a small sample. Families coming for the temple should anchor the stay to Baidyanathdham station rather than Deoghar Junction, since the two are on different lines.
