About this hotel

The near-station tag is the whole case for this one, and in a town where most hotels sit closer to Shiv Ganga than to the platform, that tag is worth something specific. Deoghar Junction handles the short branch service to Jasidih Junction, which means arrivals land in bursts and departures happen early, and a room that shortens the walk at either end changes how the day starts. The listing is otherwise spare: no restaurant, no parking entry, no breakfast service, which puts food in the hands of the tea stalls and dhabas that work the station approach. A perfect 10 across twelve reviews is encouraging without being conclusive. Treat it as a well-liked local inn built for one job rather than as a hotel with facilities.

Our take

Twelve guests have given Hotel Ganga Sarovar Inn a perfect 10, and its asset is position: close to Deoghar Junction, the station opened in 2011 on the Jasidih–Dumka–Rampurhat line. That suits a plan built on that line, such as the Dumka–Ranchi or Ranchi–Godda Intercity, or a passenger train to Banka or Rampurhat. It is the wrong base for a premium express on the Howrah–Delhi main line, which calls at Jasidih Junction about 5 km away, or for the temple, whose station is Baidyanathdham at the end of the Jasidih branch. No public listing describes its facilities, so I treat it as a bed near the platform.

  • Do not confuse this station with Jasidih Junction: Rajdhani-type trains on the Howrah–Delhi main line stop at Jasidih, not here, so check the code DGHR on your ticket.
  • The three platforms at Deoghar Junction are linked by a foot overbridge; with heavy bags, ask which platform your train uses before you climb.
  • A 10 from only 12 reviews says little about noise or hot water; read the latest ones and look for mentions of the station side of the building.

Why we love it

  • The near-station tag for early branch departures
  • A perfect guest rating, small sample though it is
  • A simple room for a single-purpose overnight
  • No car needed for the station leg
Why guests love it

For a family, Hotel Ganga Sarovar Inn makes sense only in a narrow case: an evening arrival at Deoghar Junction and an onward train from the same station the next day, so nobody has to cross town with children and luggage. I could not confirm a restaurant, family rooms, a lift or parking from any public source, so plan dinner and snacks before arriving. The 10 out of 10 from 12 guests points to a well-kept place and attentive staff, but the sample is small. For a temple visit with children, I would rather sleep near Baidyanathdham station, since the shrine is the point of the trip.
